Super Big

  • Super Big

Verse 1: ..big, bigger than you ever were
..dream; bigger than you ever heard
..sometimes they hate and ain’t a reason to it
Even got the nerve to burn apply schemin’ to it
who really hears what a hater say..?
I tell ‘em do Like Mike's shot, fadeaway
I kept my focus, never broke it, now I made a way
A couple breaths, a barely seconds, now I’m 8-away
From a moment a large, as I look in the stars
The crazy part of it all, is I ain’t lookin’ far
We on the come-up, was to last till we past
Now we headed to the top, that’ll last till we passed
...or maybe to beyond or infinity
The fans cheerin’, I can hear it like a symphony
Cause momma always told me I can do it
So I say to myself, roll my sleeves and get to it!!

- Hook -

My momma once told me work hard you could make it out the streets
Cause it's a cold cold world and every young bright mans gotta eat
If you believe in what I'm saying I promise one of these days you'll be SUPER BIG with
the whole world smiling at your feet

Verse 2:

Never wanna do you harm, you the beat in my heart
My mom, good God, you did one hell of a job
I praise you, my angel, hail with a halo
‘Cause when I was a kid, I never listened what you say so
...as often as I oughta
But my momma is the truest, if you knew her, then you knew it
And through the pain and the fire
Had most of what I wanted, always had what I required
Now I rise up, thanking all the stars
For our bond, you were strong, made it far and we here with all these scars
And we celebrate, dancin’ on a holiday
You the best, seconds left like Melo on a fall-away
...and even though we all ain’t grateful
I gotta take time for mine to say thank you cause
Momma always told me I could do it
So I say to myself, roll my sleeves and just do it!!

- Hook -

My momma once told me work hard you could make it out the streets
Cause it's a cold cold world and every young bright mans gotta eat
If you believe in what I'm saying I promise one of these days you'll be SUPER BIG with
the whole world smiling at your feet X2

With just over a month left before Mother’s Day, rising Toronto rapper Leondro is setting the bar high with “Super Big,” his touching new ode to his hard-working and self-sacrificing mother. Featuring fellow Canadian rapper Yoko Gold, “Super Big” looks back with appreciation and affection on Leondro’s mother’s hardships as “she fought to keep her children's future bright.” Leondro will officially premiere “Super Big” at the Easter Seals Telethon in Toronto on April 10 (10 AM – 4 PM on CBC). Funds raised through the Easter Seals Telethon will make a difference for children who live with physical disabilities in Ontario.

While “Super Big” details Leondro’s difficulty growing up without a father, its main focus is on his good fortune in having a mother who shouldered the burden. As a single parent, Leondro’s mother fought to keep her children out of trouble while still providing food to eat and a roof over their head. “Super Big” is from the perspective of a man who is only now able to fully understand and appreciate the full scope of his mother’s sacrifices.
